8th Annual Chefs Collaborative Summit
Growing Community – Owning the Future

September 9-11, Atlanta, GA

Chefs Collaborative’s 8th Annual Summit, Growing Community – Owning the Future, took place in Atlanta, GA, Saturday, September 9 – Monday, September 11, set against the backdrop of Atlanta’s most iconic landmarks, such as the Fox Theatre and Ponce City Market. Guests gathered for engaging presentations, hands-on workshops, delicious shared meals and celebrations, field trips and networking with other chefs and food professionals who are building a better food system. Together, and across some of the best sites in the region, we explored current issues and solutions through the lens of community collaboration and owning our collective future.

“Embrace uncomfortable topics and amplify unheard voices; that is our agenda,” Chefs Collaborative Board Chair Piper Davis told the stalwart souls gathered in Atlanta last September for Chefs Collaborative’s 2017 Summit.

As Hurricane Irma barreled north through Florida, Davis rallied the Summit audience with a speech that marked the beginning of a new chapter for our 24-year old organization. Chefs Collaborative will be addressing the difficult challenges facing chefs and food professionals – immigration, economic inequality, and white privilege – along with our traditional issues of seasonality, organics, antibiotic misuse, regenerative farming, and food waste.

With the dynamic Atlanta food community as a beacon for what is possible, and Kim Severson of The New York Times as our emcee, Chefs Collaborative Members and guests celebrated our history while building the power of our community by taking responsibility for our future at an event that can only be described as awe-inspiring. And, our friends at Heritage Radio Network captured it in podcast form for you to enjoy!
